Mobile phone safety tips on your car
Today, drivers increasingly use their mobile phones in the car. You may have ever seen the picture of holding 4 to 5 or even more mobile phones in front of the driver seat in a taxi! While it’s not recommended to talk on phone while driving, it may be unavoidable at times. If you must use your mobile phone while driving, here are a few safety tips to follow!
Use a handfree device
Well, as you all know, it’s restricted by law and a must-do thing for all drivers in Hong Kong!
Know more about your mobile phone and its features
Learn to take advantage of valuable features most mobile phones offer, including automatic redial and memory. Try also to memorize the phone keypad so you can use the speed dial function without taking your attention off the road.
Position your mobile phone within easy reach
Place your mobile phone within easy reach and where you can grab it without taking your eyes off of the road. If you receive a call at an inconvenient time, if possible, let your voice mail answer it for you.
Do not take notes or look up phone numbers while driving
If you are reading or even writing something while driving a car, you are not watching where you are going to! Don’t get caught in a dangerous situation because you’re not paying attention to the road or nearby vehicles!
Avoid or suspend conversations that may be distracting
Let the person you are speaking with know you are driving. If necessary, avoid or suspend the call in heavy traffic or hazardous weather conditions. Stressful or emotional conversations are distracting and even dangerous when you’re behind the wheel of a car. As a driver, your first responsibility is to pay attention to the road!
